New addon of interest Raid Needs. This addon lets you set up lists of gear that drops off the dragons it drops off of. And then you can share these lists with Briceis. He loves list, and wants to hold all of them. Then when you need something off a specific boss he can quickly see and make sure you are there! You won’t even have to talk to him, it’s neat like that.

UPDATE: 5/4/11 Patch 4.1 has added:

  • The Network category contains the options “Optimize network for speed” and “Enable IPv6 when available”. “Optimize network for speed” will be enabled by default, and will send packets more frequently at the cost of higher bandwidth. The higher bandwidth may lead to disconnects for some players who have limited bandwidth. Players getting disconnected frequently should try unchecking this box.

This sends more data packets (disables Nagle’s Algorithm) in order to provide less delay. As I’ve come to understand TCP Acknowledge packets, assuming windows is f*ing retarded, leatrix actually does help quite a bit. Assuming windows implemented TCP correctly, yeah they didn’t, enjoy.

This is by far one of my favorite programs from Wowinterface.

It basically works by forcing your computer to send packets more regularly instead of in clusters, allowing for smoother latency and less spikes in MS.

Although not a fix to some latency problems such as port distance, it’s definitely a good solution to common bad latency. Check it out here.

Kae, over at Dreambound had a nice post a while back about F.lux screen tinting. I’d suggest seeing her whole post here to read about a lot of the effects, but basically it tints your screen to reduce the blue lighting associated with daylight and dims it down for night time computer use. Me and shal both find this amazing, and suggest checking it out if you are at all interested. The download can be found here.

That's A Lot of BaitWe’ve completed Mix Master this past weekend. I was helping or I might have updated this with something along the lines of “oh god the herbs.” Our next goal for assisting our raids, and because we love fishing, is That’s A Lot of Bait: Catch 10,000 fish from fishing pools. All of our members should be helping as well as they can. Especially since this requires a fishing pole, the fishing skill, and any body of water where pools spawn. For our raiders, nearly 85′s, and crazy low levels we would like you to focus on some specific fish.

Recipe: Seafood Magnifique FeastThe reward for this next achievement allows us to create fish feasts, which will save a lot of farming time for our raiders who are providing all their own food in order to maximize their dps and down bosses…. *laughs* I wish, but lots do, and feasts will help everyone. So when fishing for fish for the feast it would be best to fish up the fish required to use fish to make the feast! FISH!

Highland Guppy

Highland Guppy are found in Twilight Highlands, of course. I assume along the coast… my mage is 80, I’ll level her and start fishing though. You can probably fish these out of the water, but why bother, pools are faster anyways.

Fathom Eel

Apparently these are found a few places, but the pools only spawn in Tol Barad. All the pvp nuts go crazy and get fishing! They are found all over the zone, and if you are able, grab that Whiptail right next to the water.

Lavascale Catfish

Not found in pools? :( However they tell me these drop well in Deepholm around Deathwing’s Fall. Also Uldum has these and the Eels, so fish these up if you’ve nothing else to do and are sick of pools!

Next up 100,000 fish, go go!

Look at our not so dedicated members, bet you none of them dressed in plate armor, or even a coat. Well, maybe a few had a coat. And is that Candlejack or something else, oh look a meme, well, could have been one. Remember to get some sleep… or not, maybe go to work, not lose your job. Don’t forget about any children, they need food, and not that hot pocket you made at 4am then forgot about, proper food. Good luck everyone.

Blackrock Caverns

A dark purple and red instance with magma. The appearance is a combination of twilight and blackrock themes. The instance is a new Blackrock Spire instance where the Twilight Hammer are transporting supplies between the new zone, Twilight Highlands, next to wetlands and Blackrock Mountain. The clan also practice the dark arts that create dragonspawn. Bosses and trash appear to include hummanoids and dragonspawn.

The Throne of the Tides

A sea of blue trimmed with gold and lined with corals are the sights inside the Throne of the Tides. Naga, fish, and water elemental themes adorne this instance. The instance resides near the maelstrom in Vashj’ir where the naga are up to a new plot to overthrow those that walk on land. It is the home of the water elementals and Neptulon the Tidehunter. The instance itself will contain the normal residents of watery Naga zones, I’m thinking Blackfathom Deeps. For the final boss being Neptulon himself, possibly, I imagine something similar to a 5 man Ragnaros encounter.

The Vortex Pinnacle

Simlar to the Thrown of the Tides except this time it’s air. Gold trim remains, but the sea and Naga themes are replaced by windy and a dull grey of an overcast morning with some blues from lightening to add a bit more color to certain areas or mobs. The instance itself floats over Uldum, in the clouds as it were.  The trash consists of, well, air. Lots of different kinds of air elementals. The bosses range from air elementals to dragons. As it stands This instance seems a bit too easy compared to the rest of them, for now.

The Stonecore

Rock is apparently orange, green, and purple. The Stonecore is an instance within Deepholm that features earth elementals. The bosses are made of rocks and rather unique, except the final boss. Seems deathwing put some girl in charge of things. I’m sure the trash will be mostly earth elementals and some cultists. Banish and hummanoid CC galore!

The Lost City of the Tol’vir

This image is copyrighted to Blizzard Entertainment Inc.

This instance is located inside Uldum, and is an outdoor instance. The apperance seems similar to that of other outdoor troll instances, with jungle and stone structures. However, the stone in this city is not in ruins and the residents are not trolls. The ancient civilization living here, the Tol’vir,  joined Deathwing in return for a cure to the curse of flesh. The bosses range from a crocadile to a Tol’vir, and even an air elemental as the final boss.

The Halls of Origination

Ulduar meets silithus. That pretty much sums up the appareance of this instance. This is the main Uldum 5 man dungeon, which seems very heroic boasting seven bosses. The instance also features Brann Bronzebeard, of course, and we all hope without a ten minute escort event. The instance itself seems to feature egyptian themed bosses and trash.

Grim Batol

An ancient dwarf city tainted by a dark history. Located in the wetlands, been there since forever with no purpose until now. The appearance of this instance is similar to other dwarf cities such as Ironforge. The begining of the instance features a bombing run on red drakes to thin the army you will have to face. The mobs consist of dragonspawn and cultists, and perhaps even dragons. Finally allowed entry you can venture into the city to foil the Twilight’s Hammer plans and Deathwing’s in the process.

Feast of Flesh

Reidenki is one of many who are glad of the Nom Nom Nom talent name being changed to Feast of Flesh. This is one of the key talents for druid cat form. While many were looking forward to linking this talent in trade chat as spam, now they won’t have the chance unless they were in beta. We can all look forward to anal Feast of Flesh, but no more Nom Nom Nom, this is one of the best changes from cata beta so far.

What is the Augmented Virtual Reality (AVR) addon for world of warcraft? Well it basically lets you draw on the ground. And works far better than you might expect. It seems like a really fun idea, especially for like scavenger hunts or something. Leave some riddles arround Azeroth, and have a prize at the end!

What makes this addon useful is raid settings. Positioning is made very simple with this addon. Someone also made the AVR Encounter addon, which basically simplifies a lot of mechanics to some fights. Most everything is range based around a boss, or characters in the raid, so this detects these, and displays them in the game world. Also you can set up range warnings for yourself, which is much more visible than Deadly Boss Mods /range command.

I would suggest at least getting the default AVR addon. This can be very fun, and extremely useful for just positioning in a raid. Can explain things a lot faster than running around throwing AOEson the ground, or the elusive smoke flare.
